Information for museums: Your participation in the Swiss Museum Prize
Welcome to phase 4! Now that our audience and an amateur jury have laid the foundations, it's your turn. Take the opportunity to present your mediation work to a nationwide audience.
All museums participating in the Swiss Museum Pass are cordially invited to apply for the prize by May 31, 2026.
The theme for 2026: «Best mediation for all generations»
We are looking for projects that bring people together. It's not about the biggest budget, but about the best impact:
Intergenerational dialog: How do you promote the exchange between young and old?
Participation: How do you make content accessible to everyone?
Visitor experience: How do you create an atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome?
The 3 pillars of valuation
The jury and the audience will evaluate your submission according to these criteria:
The spark for everyone: Enthusiasm across age boundaries.
The feeling of togetherness: Promotion of social interaction.
The feel-good factor: Accessibility and hospitality in everyday museum life.
Your application: it's that simple
The application period runs from March 17th to May 31st, 2026. The application consists of two parts:
1. the brief written description
On a maximum of two A4 pages (PDF), tell us what makes your educational work so special and how you bring the theme of the year to life in your museum.
2. the video pitch (60-90 seconds) The centerpiece for the later public voting. Show us your museum in action!
Format: Portrait format (9:16) - perfect for the smartphone.
Authenticity before perfection: We expressly want Cell phone videos. An authentic insight into your premises and interaction with people is more effective than a glossy advertising film.
Technology: Make sure you have good lighting and clear sound (get close to the microphone when speaking).
Call to Action: Invite people to vote for you!
Submission & Process
Where: The submission is made via an online form.
Shortlist: A 9-member lay jury (museum pass holders) selects the nominees (shortlist) from all applications.
Voting: From June 15th, all of Switzerland will decide on the winner via online voting.
