30 Years of the Swiss Museum Pass: An Anniversary of Cultural Participation

With a record number of visitors and a prominent guest at the Bern Museum of Art, the Swiss Museum Pass is kicking off its anniversary year 2026.

For three decades, we have pursued a clear mission: to make culture accessible to everyone. That we have reached the milestone of 1.5 million admissions cracked, is not just a number for us, it is confirmation of the unbroken interest in the Swiss museum landscape.

A personal kickoff

Federal Councillor gave the official start signal Elisabeth Baume-Schneider in the Bern Art Museum. During a personal tour, she offered insight into her unique perspective on art and presented her favorite work by Sophie Taeuber-Arp.

This visit also marks the beginning of our series «The Other Gaze»Throughout the year, personalities from Switzerland will lead tours and share their individual perspectives on various works with the public.

What began in 1996 as a pioneering project of the Federal Office of Culture, Switzerland Tourism, and the Association of Swiss Museums is today a firm pillar of our identity. With over 500 connected museums We connect people, regions, and stories.
